10 Top Diet Tips

Top Diet Tip No. 1: Guzzel water and gulp non-calorie drinks.

There are individuals that can actually think they are hungry when in fact they are merely thirsty.  Before you go digging in the fridge for a snack, drink a tall glass of ice water. Make sure you get at least eight 8 oz. glasses of water a day.  This actually varies from person to person, but eight won’t hurt you.

If you can’t stand plain water then use things like Crystal Lite or squirt some lemon juice in yur water.  Experiment until you find an excellent no calorie substitute for water.

Top Diet Tip No. 2: First start thinking about the foods you need to add to your diet instaed of what you need to give up.

Add your five to nine reccommended servings of fruits and veggies. This will not only fill you up with fibre, but it will fill you up with top quality calories that will energize you and boost your metabolism.

Eating your fruits and veggies will make it hard for you to overeat because you will be filled up with foods that will not spike your blood sugar and are full of natural goodness.

Top Diet Tip No. 3: Are you really starving?

Know the physical signs of hunger and be able to distinguish them from cravings. Physical hunger will come on gradually and involve specific feelings in your stomach.  If you are really hungry you will want to eat, even if it is a bowl of raw veggies. Cravings are very specific and come on suddenly and are very urgent.

Top Diet Tip No. 4: Watch those nighttime munchies.

It always seems that when you are done with the day its time to sit in front of the TV with your favoriet food and eat mindlessly while you watch.  Bad news!  Try raw veggies instead or another tall glass of a no calorie beverage. Or, how about some sugar free gum to curb that need for something sweet?

Top Diet Tip No. 5: Don’t give up your favorite foods.

Learn to enjoy your favoriet foods in moderation.  If you just try to cut them out altogether you set yourself up for failure.  Buy less so that there is not a lot hanging around to eat.  This will cut down on your chances of overeating.

Top Diet Tip No. 6: Go out for dessert

That’s right.  By going out to the local ice cream parlor you keep the desserts away from home and away from your ability to return time after time for “seconds”. It would be even greater if you can walk to the ice cream parlor.

Top Diet Tip No. 7: Eat several mini-meals during the day.

If you eat fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight. But when you’re hungry all the time, eating fewer calories can be challenging.

Top Diet Tip No. 6: Snack More, Eat Less

If you eat 4 to 5 smaller snack type meals in a day you will keep your metabolism roaring, your appetite under control and your body shrinking.

Best Diet Tip No. 8: Every time you eat include protein

What can I say?  Protein is a dieter’s best friend.  It promotes the development of lean body mass, is more satifying to your appetite than fats, and doesn’t spike your blood sugar.

Best Diet Tip No. 9: Use a lot of spices.

Spices, for some reason, boost your metabolisnm and help the body feel more full.  Even a spicy cinnammon hard candy can help stem your cravings with very few calories.

Top Diet Tip No. 10: Fill your house with healthy snacks.  These ready to eat snacks and meals should be things like…

  • 94% fat-free microwave popcorn (20-25 calories per cup, and you can make it in two minutes or less)
  • Frozen vegetables
  • Bags of pre-washed greens
  • Canned diced tomatoes
  • Canned beans
  • Whole-grain wraps or pitas
  • Pre-cooked grilled chicken breasts
  • A few containers of pre-cooked brown rice

With stuff like this you should only be minutes away from a healthy meal.
